HIV Evaluation Bank

dHA worked with consultants at Urban Policy Strategies to develop capacity in community based organizations to undertake evaluation of HIV Prevention Programs. The idea for the HIV evaluation bank - a cadre of experts in evaluation on which community based providers could draw - was dreamed up by the CT DPH HIV/AIDS Office and the CT HIV Prevention Community Planning Group to respond to the needs voiced by community based providers for assistance in undertaking HIV evaluation projects. dHA staff spearheaded a number of projects for the HIV evaluation bank including:

  • Development of a training for all community based providers as part of an RFP process entitled "Designing effective HIV prevention programs: using science and experience". One of most popular tools developed for this training - a matrix of behavioral science theories, and examples of how they are applied to HIV prevention is attached here for your review.
  • Development of a resource manual on how to design and evaluate HIV prevention programs. This manual includes step by step instructions in easy to understand language as well as sample tools to use in evaluation that were reviewed by a group of evaluation experts.
